In the morning of October 7, 2020, at Thuongmai University the National conference titled “Developing global citizen-oriented human resources” took place.

In the opening ceremony, Prof.Dr. Đinh Văn Sơn, President of Thuongmai University delivered an opening speech and the introduction report stating that globalization has brought about fast changes and posed great challenges in terms of the society, olitics, culture, economics, and environment. The challenges require the thoughts, awareness, and actions of “global citizens” on a global scale. Within the framework of the academic cooperation and exchange between Thuongmai University and University of Labour and Social Affairs, the national conference titled “Developing global citizen-oriented human resources” was held to find a solution to the issue of human resourcesthat ensure the sustainable development for the country. The conference was an event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Thuongmai University’s, the 10th anniversary of Faculty of Human Resources Administration in 2020, and the 60th anniversary of University of Labour and Social Affairs in 2021.

A/Prof.Dr. Lê Thanh Hà, Vice President of University of Labour and Social Affairs gave a welcoming speech on behalf of the co-organizer. 

Dr. Nguyễn Trọng Thừa, Deputy Minister of Domestic Affairs gave a congratulating speech to the conference.

Under the chairmanship of Assoc.Dr. Nguyễn Thị Minh Nhàn – Thuongmai University and Dr. Nguyễn Thị Tươi – University of Labour and Social Affairs, the conference received the following presentations:
(1)    Global citizen training in the context of international integration - Dr. Lê Tiến Đạt
(2)    Enhancing the link between training establishments and businesses in training global citizen-oriented human resources - Dr. Vũ Thị Ánh Tuyết 
(3)    The government’s orientation in integrated human resources so Vietnamese people could work every where – A/Prof.Dr. Lê Xuân Bá
(4)    The demand for skilled labour and challenges facing Vietnam’s human resources in the context of globalization – Dr. Nguyễn Thị Minh Hòa

The participants that spoke and exchanged opinions at the conference:
(1)    Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Mại – President of Foreign-Invested Businesses Association, Former President of Thuongmai University said that the topic of the conference is meaningful given the context of globalization and the 4th industrial revolution. The drastic development of digitalization and the digital economy has made great and fast changes in the economy and the society and every aspect of people’s life. The conference should also highlight the role of skills in the digital economy to limit the challenges of the digital economy. 
(2)    Ông Trịnh Minh Anh – Chief of Office of Interdisciplinary Steering Committee for Economic International Integration highly appreciated the quality of the presentations and the papers in the conference’s proceedings. As Vietnam has been joining new generation FTAs, training and developing global citizen-oriented human resources is vital so that Vietnam could integrate deeper into the regional and global economy. 
(3) Trịnh Nguyễn Tuấn Anh – President of King JSC. 
The broker stated that at present training human resources should focus on excellent individuals, then set the orientation for following actions to develop the business and the country in the new context.
(4) A/Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Bá Ngọc – Former Head of Institute of Labour and Soial Affairs. The global citizen, besides knowledge and skills, must have the global responsibility for the development of Vietnam. People’s healthy and clear thoughts and sense are good conditions for the development. In addition, good discipline, a positive  motivation, attitude, and responsibility in doing the given task is important. 
(5) Nguyễn Quốc Chư – Director of operation and recruitment of M Talent JSC said that at present, university graduates lack the ability to promote themselves. To take advantage of opportunities, it is important for students to identify their targets and the route map to equip themselves with knowledge, skills, and attitude matching the standards of the employers to get the best jobs. 
(6) Assoc.Prof. Lê Thanh Hà – Vice President of University of Labour and Social Affairs believed that the global citizenship could also been seen in the ability to cooperate with the community and teamwork. Univertisites and training establishments should provide students whatever the global citizens need such as presentation skill, problem-solving, or working methods so students could have good solutions, and human resources training and administration could adapt itself in the new context.

Conclusion and closing the conference:
Assoc.Prof. Nguyễn Thị Minh Nhàn, on behalf of the Board of Chairmen, summarized and closed the conference. The summary concluded that the presentations are academic and practical, and they suggested scientific and policy implications for the development of global citizen-oriented human resources at all levels, and effective use of this human resource will be the key to affirm Vietnam’s status in the global arena.
