VICE PRESIDENT DANG THI NGOC THINH ATTENDS OPENING CEREMONY OF SCHOOL YEAR 2018-2019 AT THUONGMAI UNIVERSITY

On the morning of September 11th 2018, Thuongmai University held an opening ceremony of the new school year 2018-2019 at both campuses - Hanoi and Ha Nam.

In Hanoi, the ceremony was attended by Vice-President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh - Standing member of the Party Central Committee; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan – Chairwoman of Vietnam Central Association for Promoting Education – former Member of Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam – former Vice President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam – former Rector of Thuongmai University; Dr. Nguyen Thi Nghia - Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Luan, former member of Party Central Committee, former Minister of Education and Training, former Rector of Thuongmai University; Mr. Chu Van Yem – Vice-chairman of President Office and leaders of some universities in Hanoi.

For TMU’s part, attending the ceremony were A/Prof. Dr. Do Minh Thanh – Party Secretary – Vice Rector; Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Son – Rector; A/Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Nhan - Chairman of University Council; A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Loan – Vice Rector; A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Minh – Chairman of University Union and standing members in the Union; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung – Member of Party Committee – Secretary of Hochiminh Communist Youth Union and standing members in the Youth Union; Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thao, Chairwoman of Thuongmai University Former Lecturer Association – Former Party Secretary, Former Vice-rector and representatives of Standing Committees of Communist Youth Union, outstanding students from 51st , 52nd, 53rd  academic year, foreign students and more than 4,000 new students of 54th academic year and international training programs.

At the event, Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Son – Rector said that the school year 2018-2019 would be important to TMU as the deeper global integration creates a lot of opportunities for TMU to enhance its position in providing high quality human resources. During this school year, TMU will continue renovating management methods, teaching methods as well as training programs.

Also in this school year, TMU will renovate its operational mechanism in conformity with autonomy. Therefore all staff members must try their best to improve the training quality…
Addressing the ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh applauded the achievements of generations of TMU’s lecturers and students. She also highlighted the tasks TMU must carry out to continue improving the training quality to meet the demand of the society.

She believes that TMU will develop strongly, making further contribution to education and training in particular and to our nation in general in the time to come, with the support from Party and Government, Ministry of Education and Training and the efforts of TMU’s leaders, lecturers and students.

On this occasion, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh presented a souvenir to TMU and 20 scholarships to poor students with outstanding academic achievements.

In the school year 2018 - 2019, TMU will spend VND 20.5 million of scholarship to motivate students. In addition, the University decides to award scholarships to students whose parents were exposed to toxic chemicals during the war; or students who are exposed to toxic chemicals.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Bui Quang Cam - a member of the Provincial Party Committee, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People 's Committee ; Mr. Le Van Dung - the Vice Chairman of Phu Ly People 's Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Cong – Deputy head of Internal Security Department; Police of Ha Nam  province; leaders from  Hanoi University of Industry; Hanoi University of Education – Ha Nam  Campus; PA83; People 's Committee and Police of Le Hong Phong Ward, Phu Ly District, Ha Nam  Province.

From TMU,  there were A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long – Member of Party Committee – Vice Rector; heads of departments and divisions, administrative personnel, lecturers of English, Marketing, Economic Information System and E-Commerce faculties as well as more than 800 new students of 54th academic year.

On behalf of the University’s Management Board, A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long - Vice Rector delivered a speech and drummed to commence school year  2018 - 2019. He affirmed that the training quality is the top priority of the University, because it helps confirm the status and reputation of the University. Finally, A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long extended great thanks to ministries, ministerial-level agencies, central and local authorities, organizations and businesses who have always assisted the university in all activities.
